Access Control Reader
Model: AC500R11
RISCO Group’s Access Control Reader employs advanced RFID technology in a rugged
and stylish enclosure. The reader is compatible with 13.56 MHz RFID read-only tags,
read/write tags and smart encrypted data tags. Suitable for indoor and outdoor
installation with a rugged polycarbonate enclosure and molten epoxy for vandal
resistance. The reader is compatible to work with any standard access control system or
with RISCO Access Control (AxesPlus™ V1.19 and higher) using RS232 serial
communication.
Installation
1. The Access Control Reader can be mounted indoors or outdoors on any surface
(wood, metal, concrete, etc.).
2. Remove the cover from the reader.
3. Choose the required location and mark the installation holes and the wiring
passage hole while using the reader base as a template.
4. Drill a 12 mm hole for the cable passage and two installation holes, 4mm each.
5. Secure the reader to the surface using the supplied screws.
6. Route the cable to the controller and wire according to the Wiring section.
7. Replace the cover.
Wiring
Wire the reader to the controller according to the following wiring table and the controller installation
instructions.

LED & Buzzer Testing
The following table indicates the default LEDs and buzzer indications.
Operatio
Indication
Start Up Short LED blink and Buzzer beep will indicate successful device startup
Stand by mode Red LED will blink shortly every 5 sec to show that the reader is ON
Card present Buzzer will beep shortly for recognized cards only
Note:
Wiring buzzer control input (Yellow wire) to ground during device power on will put it in silent mode (except power on beep).
The buzzer is returned to its normal operation after restarting device with floating control input (Yellow wire).
Buzzer control input (Yellow wire) can be used for other purposes, for example “Door open too long” indication.
Once connected to the Access Controller, the LED and Buzzer operation will be controlled by the controller software.
